You will be turning in a minimum of 3 retouched (final) photos. The three final shots must include one of each type of portrait framing: closeup/head shot, 3/4 shot & full body.
Before you photograph, get to know your partner, encourage them to bring props or different outfits/change of clothes for their shoot. Plan which day who will bee shooting who and exchange contact info to remind each other & coordinate.
Connecting with your 'client' and making them comfortable in front of the camera is your job, confidence is a BIG part of that. Research poses before your shoot and plan what and where you will photograph your 'senior' so you are more confident and know what you are doing.
In addition to your final 3 images you will submit your contact sheets, a minimum of 75 images, which breaks down to 25 images per type of portrait framing. This should show that you tried different poses and angles at the same location. This assignment you will also learn to process RAW files (tutorial here) and some basic retouching techniques (healing brush to remove blemished).
