Final Project

5/15/2015

Due FRIDAY 5/29
  • Create an original photo, one that shows me what you learned this year. You will be explaining ALL choices you made in taking the image (shooting mode, shutter, aperture, composition, subject matter)
  • Remember, if you can’t think of an original idea, feel free to revisit one of the project ideas we have already done, but make sure that the final piece is original!!!
  • This project should be your BEST work and a reflection of what you have learned this year technically & creatively.

SELF EVALUATION:
  • Title of your Artwork:__________________________________________________________
  • What made you select your area of concentration for your final project? What is it about this subject matter or genre that interests you?
  • Explain the process of arriving at your final image. Did you have any struggles or challenges during this process? What steps did you take to ensure you were successful (planning stages, brainstorming, and research)? Explain how your settings contributed to the final image (aperture, shutter, ISO, white balance).
  • What makes your image aesthetically pleasing? Use your art and photographic vocabulary to explain.
  • Your final project was to be a representation of your best work. In what way does this work show your growth throughout the course?
  • What recommendations do you have for a student about to start their final project? What tips can you give them to help them be successful?

Self Portrait Write-up

Write an artist statement for your self-portrait photo that you will be submitting for the MOPA Youth Exhibition. Type the Artist Statement in your P4 folder in a Google doc. You will print out and submit with the rest of the application.

What is an artist statement? An artist statement is a paragraph or two written by the artist that describes his or her artwork. It might include details about their photograph, someone who inspires them, why they like photography or even their goals as an artist and photographer. Write below or attach typed statement to this form. Must be fewer than 50 words.

Museum of Photographic Art San Diego 'Self Portrait' Youth Exhibition: Deadline June 15, 2015
What is the story of you? MOPA’s 10th Annual Youth Exhibition will focus on the theme of personal identity and self-portraiture. In the age of the selfie, how can you use photography to express who you are and what you care about? Encourage your students to explore new and interesting ways to tell their stories. Students may use photography or video to share their interpretation of what a self-portrait is or can be.
