Advertising

4/11/2013

Picture
For this assignment you will be creating two advertisements in an ad campaign for the same brand/product.

Complete the 'Advertising Scripting Template' first to help determine who your target market is and how you can connect the product to these potential consumers.

You will then determine a catchphrase or headline for your ad that connects the imagery to the product. The image(s) can be ones that you take yourself, images found on the internet, or a combination of the two.

The print advertisements have to be done in Photoshop or Illustrator using type tool and layers.  The ads must be 8-1/2” x 11” tall with a resolution of 300 pixels/inch.

From WIKIPEDIA
'An advertising campaign is a series of advertisement messages that share a single idea and theme which make up an integrated marketing communication (IMC). Advertising campaigns appear in different media across a specific time frame.
The critical part of making an advertising campaign is determining a campaign theme as it sets the tone for the individual advertisements and other forms of marketing communications that will be used. The campaign theme is the central message that will be communicated in the promotional activities. The campaign themes are usually developed with the intention of being used for a substantial period but many of them are short lived due to factors such as being ineffective or market conditions and/or competition in the marketplace and marketing mix.'

Illustrator or Photoshop Tutorial

3/11/2013

Picture
Today you will spend the period completing a tutorial. Following tutorials is one way digital artists learn and update their skills as technology is always changing.

Make sure the tutorial uses Photoshop or Illustrator and not another program. Pick a tutorial that is just beyond your skill level so you push yourself to learn something new, read through it first before you start! If you get stumped google it (ex- 'where to find blur filter in photoshop cs6'), or ask a classmate nearby for a quick question.
Use the images provided in the tutorials or find your own images on the internet (search for large quality).

Lastly, make the finish tutorial you create look like a finished piece and not 'an exercise', something you could print out and display!

First person to finish can create a new turn-in folder on the V drive > McKay > Graphic Design > Period > TUTORIAL > Lastname_First_tutorial.ai or .psd

Photoshop Tutorials: Colorize a B&W Photo | Space Warp Implosion | Futuristic Composition | Texture & Depth with Type | Break the JPEG Code | Mixing Vector Shapes | Create Distorted Text | Creating cardiac rate effect | Displaced text | How to create scotch tape | Create a laserbeam on body | Adding 'creative' label to skin | Adding colorful curved lines | Creating Custom Patterns | Symmetrical Abstraction | 50 photoshop tutorials
